Launching a high-impact membership scheme

Challenge

Powerleague is one of the UK’s leading operators of small-sided football and padel venues, welcoming thousands of players into its clubs every week. As the business looked to strengthen customer loyalty and increase engagement both on and off the pitch, Powerleague identified an opportunity to launch a new free membership scheme for its customers.

The vision was ambitious: members would benefit from early access to pitch bookings, exclusive discounts on food, drink and equipment, and a seamless in-club experience, all while giving Powerleague richer customer insight through improved data capture and reporting.

To make this possible, Powerleague needed new membership functionality built directly into its core booking platform, Centrenet, with tight integration into its existing EPOS and CRM systems. The solution had to be delivered quickly, reliably, and with minimal disruption, ahead of a high-profile launch.

Solution

Powerleague partnered with Propel Tech to design and deliver the technical foundations of its new membership scheme.

Propel Tech enhanced the Centrenet booking system to support membership recognition and benefits, including the delivery of an advanced booking window that allows members to secure pitches earlier than non-members. To ensure the in-club experience matched the digital journey, Propel also delivered a full integration with Epos Now, enabling tills to automatically recognise members and apply discounts when a QR membership pass is scanned.

Alongside this, Propel integrated Centrenet with HubSpot, allowing Powerleague’s marketing and CRM teams to clearly identify members, track behaviour, and target communications effectively. Membership and transactional reporting were also introduced, giving Powerleague greater visibility over performance and customer engagement.

Despite a tight timeline, the project was scoped rapidly and delivered nine working days ahead of schedule, allowing all functionality to be available from day one of launch.

Impact

The launch of the membership scheme was an immediate success.

The new membership platform now provides a scalable foundation for future enhancements, supporting Powerleague’s long-term plans to build on the scheme and continue strengthening customer loyalty, in-club spend and data-driven marketing.
